Arguments
against Creation
Distinguishing
Between the
Explanation and
the Concept
Contained Within
the Explanation:
People often
argue that the
most rational
explanation for
the complexity
of the universe,
laws of physics,
human morals,
human intellect,
etc is a supreme
intelligent
being; but they
ignore that the
existence of
such a being
itself is
paramountly
irrational.
We must learn to
distinguish
between the
explanation and
the concept
contained within
the explanation.
While an
intelligent
being
explanation may
seem warranted,
a supreme being
itself is
completely
imaginary,
contains grossly
hypothetical
elements of its
own that need
explanation, and
just is highly
unlikely to
exist. The
convenience of
an explanation
does not make
the explanation
any more likely
to be true.
It would be
similar to
saying that the
construction of
the pyramids
would have been
much too
difficult for
the ancient
Egyptians on
their own, so
its reasonable
to assume that
they had outside
help from
aliens, while
ignoring the
fact that there
is no proof that
aliens even
exist, or have
visited this
planet, and
ignoring that
the distances
between stars
would probably
prohibit
extraterrestrial
beings from ever
visiting earth.
The concept of
God is just
irrational on
its own,
regardless of
how nicely the
concept might
explain things.
Questions
to Consider:
Why would God
make birds that
can’t fly (the
Ostrich, the Emu,
and others)?
If God made
all the species,
why do some go
extinct?
If dinosaurs
lived in the
time of Adam and
Eve and later,
they why are
there no ancient
drawings of
them?
If the earth
is only 6,000
years old then
why is there any
evidence at all
that’s it is
much older? Why
would God be
trying to fool
us by making it
seem to be
billions of
years old?
If God has
always existed,
then why did he
wait so long to
create the
universe, which
is only about 15
billion years
old, or even a
much shorter 6
thousand years
old to
creationists?
If God spent
so much time and
effort in
creating the
earth, then what
of all the other
planets? Are we
to believe that
he created each
star and planet
individually
one-by-one, like
how he created
the earth?
Why would God
make other
planets without
life?
If believing
in evolution is
like believing
you could put
the parts of a
bicycle in a
barrel, shake
it, and get a
bicycle out,
then why doesn’t
God create
bicycles?
Do you really
believe that
there is no
evolution? Did
modern day birds
like blue jays
and sparrows
ever share the
sky with the now
extinct
Archaeopteryx.
No current bird
has teeth. No
current bird has
claws on its
wings. No
current bird has
a reptile head,
or a long bony
tail. |
